An Analysis on Ukraine/Russia

1) Why is Russia Doing this?

The Russian invasion of Ukraine has very little to do with Ukraine's ties to NATO (it wasn't allowed in despite years of trying) nor due to Western "provocation" (well refuted here), rather as Putin himself has said numerous times, a desire to recreate the Soviet Union, this time as a Russian nationalist project as opposed to an atheistic, ideologically communist one. To that end, Putin is playing up his role as a savior of all Slavs both in and around the region.
To understand why Russia wants to restore Soviet era borders please watch this excellent video on this topic:

As the video clearly states, Ukraine (along with Moldova and Belarus) becomes part of a security zone for Russian central plains (where 80% of Russians actually live). Carpathian mountains, Crimea and Kalingrad are choke points.

What is the Worst Tragedy to Ever Strike Muslims?

New video from one of our writers on the centrality and importance of state power in Islam.  This video also covers why the fall of the weakened Ottoman khilafah (caliphate) was and still is the worst tragedy to afflict Muslims in the past century; as well as how and why the chaos present today in the Muslim World is a biproduct of both colonialism as well as a lack of a state to manage affairs of Muslims.

Israel is the Shadow of Arab Regimes

Israel is the shadow of the Arab regimes, so if those ceased to exist their shadow would cease to exist

Joe Biden Succinctly explaining US reasons for supporting Israel

In the United States and around the world, many are questioning why, despite some mild rebukes, Washington has maintained its large-scale military, financial, political, and diplomatic support for the Israeli occupation in the face of unprecedented violations of international law and human rights standards by Israeli occupation forces. Why is there such strong bipartisan support for Israel’s right-wing prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s policies in the occupied Palestinian territories?

The close relationship between the U.S. and Israel has been one of the most salient features

in U.S. foreign policy for nearly three and a half decades. The well over $3 billion in military

and economic aid sent annually to Israel by Washington is rarely questioned in Congress, even

by liberals who normally challenge U.S. aid to governments that engage in widespread

violations of human rights–or by conservatives who usually oppose foreign aid in general.

No other country comes close to offering the level of diplomatic support provided by Washington

-–with the United States often standing alone with Israel-- at the United Nations and other

international forums when objections are raised over ongoing Israeli violations of international

law and related concerns.  Why is this the case? What benefits does the US get from this policy?

And is the “Israeli lobby” solely to blame?

The Necessity of 'Amr Bil Mar'oof Wa Nahy Anil Munkar (Enjoining the Good & Forbidding the Evil) in Our Discourse

iSiyasah Gears.gif

The Qur’an is the eternal source of guidance for Muslims, indeed for all mankind. According to a Prophetic hadith, the Qur’an yields ever greater insights as human knowledge expands, yet contemporary Muslims have a frightening tendency to indulge in trivia concerning the Divine Book. Far from gaining deeper insights into the meanings of the Qur’an, many Muslims channel their energies into "proving" that modern scientific discoveries confirm Qur’anic revelations, as if the Qur’an needs such validation. There are others who have busied themselves with finding errors in the Bible. How many errors in the Bible does it take to make one a better Muslim? Yet other groups insist on watering down commandments in the Quran to mere rituals i.e. "tabligh" or "tasawwuf" to fellow Muslims, leaving out all other relevant precepts of the deen aside. These may still be considered less serious in light of the frightful arguments Muslims get into over where they should place their hands in salah or whether they should celebrate the prophet's birthday.
